Just 2 hours from Moscow, but it feels like you flew not on a plane, but on a spaceship — because if anywhere deserves to be called another planet, it’s Mangystau.

We’ll see the most beautiful spots of this still little-known region. We’ll visit not only the famous Bozjyra, but also the absolute highlight — Tuzbair, the giant salt mountains that we’re bringing tents for. Get ready to find yourself on an ancient seabed!

Bozjyra
Without a doubt, the main highlight of the entire trip — the one place that makes every struggle worth it: the long drive, the early mornings. But it also delivers the strongest emotions. An adventure that will knock every other landmark you’ve ever seen off the list. And this is Kazakhstan — not New Zealand, not even Old Zealand.
Kyzylkup
Known as “Tiramisu” — a name that really annoys the locals. One of the branches of Bozjyra. We’ll take a walk on this “pie” too. A dream for drone pilots — if the sun’s out, the colors will be amazing.
Ybyk
A lacy canyon, like an ancient root system of the Earth, or corals frozen in time — or even Vologda lace, weaving its patterns above our heads.
Airakty and the Valley of Balls
Sherkala, Airakty, and the Torsh Valley of Spherical Balls — places not far from Aktau that will be waiting for us on the second day of the trip. Mystical and mysterious geological formations we’ll be exploring.
Tuzbair
This is the place we’re camping for. Not the easiest to reach, but one of the most powerful experiences — it’s so immense, words can’t describe it. Photos don’t capture even a tenth of what’s actually there. Giant salt mountains, vast plains…
BY DAY
Aktau — Torsh — Sherkala — Airakty — ethno-camp
We depart from Aktau and immediately begin exploring the most unusual landscapes of Mangystau. On this day, we’ll see the Torsh Valley of Stone Balls, Sherkala — a mountain shaped like a yurt, and the Airakty cliffs, also known as the “Valley of Castles.” We’ll walk, take photos, and have lunch surrounded by powerful scenery. We’ll spend the night in an ethno-camp and try living in yurts.
Tuzbair — tent camp
We’re heading to one of the most incredible places in the region — the Tuzbair salt plateau. Once the floor of an ancient ocean, today it’s a vast landscape of white cliffs and canyons where you can find fossils of ancient sea creatures. To experience this location, we’ll stay overnight in a tent camp right among these fantastic landscapes.
Bozjyra — top and bottom — tent camp
We move to the main highlight of the entire trip — the Bozjyra canyon. Giant stone “fangs” reaching into the sky create one of the most stunning landscapes in Central Asia. We’ll see two main panoramas — from the top and from the bottom of the canyon, set up camp, and spend the evening surrounded by these magnificent views.
Kyzylkup — Ybyk — Aktau
We wake up with a view of Bozjyra and head back toward Aktau. Along the way, we’ll stop at the colorful Kyzylkup canyons and the unusual Ybyk canyon with its lacy rock formations. After lunch in Aktau, we’ll head to the airport and fly home.
